Yesterday, Michael D. Andelman was doing chores; shoveling in the winter, keeping things shipshape, arranging the trash from his building. "Hey neighbor." Said a neighbor that Michael D. Andelman had never seen nor met before. "Nice day for a bike ride." Said the neighbor. It was. It was a splendid day for a bicycle ride. "Sure is." Said Michael D. Andelman while sloshing water back and forth inside a trash barrel to "clean it." The neighbors discussed the BEST routes* to go to and from The Fells.
"Have a great ride!" Michael D. Andelman hollered cheerfully, "I'll just go dump out this barrel."
After dumping the barrel into the sewer at the corner of Chatham and Dana Street, Michael D. Andelman exchanged pleasantries with a woman who lives on that same corner. "Yes, I am considering running for City Council."
"Oh, that's wonderful. You're (insert praising adjective(s)). I am registered to vote.. I'd be happy to sign your nomination papers.. I do not know your political views, but you've always been (insert sincere sweetness)." Said the woman.
"Thank you. I might ask for your help (later)." Michael D. Andelman said with barrel in hand.
"I know a lot of educators." The woman said.
"Oh, those are the most important people."
The sun was in the woman's eyes. She saluted Michael D. Andelman (possibly to shade her eyes) and said, "You have my vote Michael."
* Some routes are dangerous for inexperienced riders and all routes have little shade - wear sun screen.
